Chapter 1

 

The Start Menu

 

Point the mouse at the Start button, and the button becomes brighter, and a small Tooltip appears which prompts you to: "Click here to begin"

Click the Start button, and the Start menu appears:

The Start menu has a number of different options and programs. This is where you start up most applications.

Some of these options have a black arrowhead next to them, which indicates that there is a submenu, which will automatically open when you point the mouse at that option. The submenu will stay open until you move to another option, or until you click somewhere else on the desktop.
